Melissa Persky is an associate in the Trusts & Estates practice group of Eisenberg & Baum, LLP, where she focuses her practice on estate planning and trust and estate administration. Ms. Persky works to preserve estate assets, minimize estate taxes, and protect the rights of heirs and beneficiaries. Ms. Persky assists clients in navigating the process of estate administration which can range from advising fiduciaries of their obligations to representing beneficiaries entitled to assets. She also focuses on estate planning strategies, including the preparation of wills, trusts and advance directives such as, durable powers of attorney and health care proxies.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Persky worked for the New York City Human Resources Administration/Department of Social Services practicing Medicaid law. She has extensive experience in Medicaid litigation involving Medicaid recovery in the areas of guardianships, estates, supplemental needs trusts, personal injury cases and spousal refusal matters. Prior to that, she was a Fellow at the Center for New York City Law.
She was admitted to the bar of the State of New York in April, 2009. Ms. Persky is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University (B.S. 2003) and of New York Law School (J.D. 2008).
